What is nextstep?

nextstep is a free friendly service that offers face-to-face help and support about training, learning and the world of work.

What can nextstep offer?

Just about everybody needs help with improving their skills, finding or changing their job and improving their skills at some point in their lives.

Your personal nextstep adviser will talk with you in confidence to help you plan your future by linking your personal interests and skills to a job or career.

Your adviser will also help you:

  • understand the job market
  • search and apply for jobs
  • find funding to support any learning
  • develop your CV
  • improve your interview and presentation skills
  • by suggesting ways to progress in your current job

Who can use the nextstep service?

You can use the nextstep service if you are:

  • aged 20 or over
  • aged 18 or 19, and you've been referred to nextstep by Jobcentre Plus

How to make an appointment

Use the nextstep service finder to get the phone number and address of your local nextstep office.

Then just phone or email to make an appointment at a time that suits you.
